Sensitive or Psychic?
This one might rattle some feathers.
It’s been a few weeks since I wrote anything.
Not because I had nothing to say. Because I had a lot to say, but couldn’t figure out the right words yet.
The season’s turning cold here, and I’ve been doing what I do every winter - going inward, taking inventory of my life, my work, my relationships. Except this time the inventory turned up something I’ve been quietly stepping around for, oh, just my whole life.
So. Deep breath. Here’s the hard truth…
(Sorry for the cliffhanger but before we dive in could you take 2 seconds to answer this)
A Different Kind of Intelligence
I don’t think sensitivity is just a personality trait. Or even just a nervous system thing. I think it’s a form of intelligence - and most of us have been trained to ignore the data it gives us. And I think we are receiving a lot more than we are aware we are.
Here’s what that’s looked like for me. Weird coloured outlines around people. Static. Energy I feel before I see it - and it’s always right later. I finish people’s thoughts and sentences. I send my partner messages through what I can only describe as my heart, and like clockwork he responds with a call or a text. Lately, blindfolded, alone in my room, I’ve started seeing clear shapes. Glimmers. Vivid ones. As if I am about to see straight through the blindfold.
“This is what that intelligence looks like when you stop overriding it.”
I have told very few people about this. There’s this old LinkedIn-shaped version of me going ‘absolutely not Andrea, you’re not doing this’ - maybe a little worried about rattling my readers, and becoming that That Highly Sensitive ‘Woo’men.
But you know, I’m kind of OK with that.
Where This Started
Here’s where it gets layered. As a kid, I brushed up against some seemingly dark energy, got scared, and shut the whole channel down. “NO MORE” I declaired. I also had a great-aunt who was psychic and later had a mental breakdown - and the lesson I absorbed early was: open this door too wide, and you lose your mind.
“I’ve wondered since whether she actually lost her mind, or whether she was just seeing more than anyone around her could hold space for.”
Either way. I retreated. For years.
The Intelligence AI Can’t Touch
But lately - and maybe you’ve noticed this too - there’s been a flood of research surfacing on telepathy, mindsight, remote viewing. Things we’ve been told for decades to file under the “You’re Cray.” category. The can of worms is opening, and it’s opening fast.
Today whilst sitting in an incredibly boring AI training and pondering the supernatural world, I had an aha moment.
“AI can out-knowledge us in every measurable way. But knowing-without-knowledge - reading a room, sensing a person before they speak, picking up what isn’t being said - isn’t a hardware feature. It’s a different kind of intelligence. One that sensitive people generally have more access to.”
We’re having a quantum leap in technology right now. I think we’re also on the edge of a quantum leap in human technology - and I think highly sensitive people are going to be the first ones to remember how to access it.
I think we’ve been gaslit about this for a long time. And I can’t keep pretending I don’t believe that anymore.
Many of you are already aware of this
If you’re a sensitive person, I’d put money on the fact that you’ve experienced some version of this - known something before being told, sensed a person’s energy before they showed you who they were. And that it went further than mere hypervigilance.
And guess what, you’re not weird. Or if you are, you’re in extremely good company here.
One Last Thing
I’m still deep in it. Not sure where it’s going. But this topic has been keeping me up at night, and that’s usually my sign to write and push play, so here we go.
Genuine question - does this resonate with how you experience your own sensitivity? Or does this feel like new territory for you?
Thanks for coming to my existential Ted Talk.

I don't think this has to be considered "woo-woo" at all. After all, we're dealing with millions of years of evolution. We've evolved to pay attention to subtleties in our environments, and some of us are really good at it.
We're better at picking up on patterns, better at reading micro-expressions, better at sensing a shift of energy, etc.
The knowledge isn't the problem. The problem, for me, is that people around me aren't always prepared to hear what I know about them, things they thought they could hide.
LOVE this new territory you are exploring and I’ve been thinking a lot of the same and deep diving all these kinds of topics. I have always been ‘a bit psychic’ and find when I fully connect to myself through meditation, journaling etc I’m more tuned into this frequency and weird stuff happens. When I’m bogged down in the day to day it’s like the switch is off. It’s fascinating and exciting and I truly believe that in the age of AI far more us will be drawn to focusing on this side of ourselves which is probably in all of us to an extent - especially the highly sensitive & neurodivergent people! 👀
